Prominent attorney William F. Plunkett, Jr. (Class of ’58) received the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Father Collins noted that Plunkett's wife, Caryl, was also being honored for “her accomplishments as a successful business woman, administrator, public servant and an active charitable volunteer."
In a special recognition of William Plunkett’s service as its first chair, the Board of Trustees announced that they were dedicating a special Chairman’s Room in his name and presented him with the plaque that will be affixed to the room’s door.
“Bill Plunkett is certainly one of Stepinac’s most distinguished alumni as a prominent attorney and business and civic leader," Father Collins said. "It is fitting that he is saluted by the Stepinac community particularly at this moment as he steps down as Chair of the Board of Trustees this year, following five years of incredible progress for Stepinac.”
“During his tenure, the school’s student enrollment increased 53 percent for the 2014-15 school year, significant infrastructure improvements and enhancements were accomplished and educators across the nation and internationally recognized Stepinac as a model in developing the first-of-its-kind digital textbook library.”
